Last week, the AcroAlliance consortium participated at the Tropentag 2025 edition titled “Reconciling land system changes with planetary health” in Bonn, Germany.
During the three-day event, our team engaged in exciting activities, including our workshop: “Novel Crops, from Biodiversity to the Bioeconomy: Opportunities and Challenges in Value Chains and Webs from the Macaúba Palm, an Alternative Oil Crop in Brazil.”
The session, held both in-person and online with stakeholders from all over the world, provided an excellent space for stakeholders to network and exchange ideas on fostering Macaúba (Acrocomia)—and other novel crops—towards sustainable value chains.

In addition, our researchers MSc. Ricardo Vargas-Carpintero, MSc. David Puerta, and Dr. Thomas Hilger shared their latest work on Macaúba during the poster sessions.

We extend our gratitude to our consortium and industry partners for their valuable contributions, as well as to the University of Bonn and the entire Tropentag team for their outstanding support in organizing the event. And to the participants of our in-person and online events, thank you! Your engagement drives us to continue creating these spaces to connect.
